You know what they say about things that are too good to be true…
We might have been in a safe house recovering, but we were in danger, and still the four of us found a way to be together.
We’d even managed to find something that I never thought possible.
Peace.
We were finally a team, fighting against our enemies.
But those enemies were closer than we anticipated.
I might have escaped, but the three men who owned equal parts of my heart were still inside the building I watched go up in flames, the house where we found each other again crumbling to ash.
Someone betrayed us.
Someone we trusted.
With shattered promises, I’m forced to put my faith in someone I shouldn’t.
I walk away from the house that holds so many heart aching memories… from the men who changed my life in more ways than they ever could imagine.
Maverick promised me that he’d protect me from ever hurting again.
JD promised to stand by me no matter how dark life got.
And Reid, he promised to burn the entire world down for me.
But how can I carry on our fight without any of them by my side?
This series can only be described as epic. Alana has been through so much but she’s so strong and determined. There are only three things that matter to her: her men, finding her sister and cleaning up this town and she’s not going to stop until they’ve all been accomplished. The safe house location was compromised in the previous book, so everything was in turmoil at the end. I was so glad she found a friend in Aubrey and I’m happy to say we get a lot more of her in this book.
The guys and Aubrey aren’t the only ones important to Alana, though. Her world is constantly expanding now, and she’s got two new people to take care of suddenly. It’s an intimidating prospect, but she embraces it happily, always up to the challenge. We also get a lot more of Reid’s brothers in the book, especially Ezra, and they brought a lot to the story.
I can’t say much without giving away spoilers, so I’ll just say the action never stops in this one. She’s living with the constant threat of being hunted by Victor, Razor and her father, so even with her freedom, Alana’s still a prisoner for now. They’re prepared to end Victor’s reign and stop him, as well as anyone who’s loyal to him, but he knows he’s not stupid and won’t make it easy for them.
Their story is emotional and sweet in some places, violent and shocking in others, with plenty of steam throughout. I couldn’t get enough of these characters and their story, so this is a series I’ll definitely be reading again. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
