It killed me to leave her behind.
Every night I closed my eyes to the images of her lifeless body in the hospital.
Her second chance came, but it wasn’t with me. It was with my brother.
I wanted to kill him and take his place.
Except it wouldn’t change anything. She hated me.
But then secrets unraveled. The truth would twist into something bitter before it set me free.
Masks dropped. Gloves were off.
I’d fight for her. I’d bring her back. I’d protect her even if it was the last thing I did.
We made a promise. She was mine, and I was hers.
To win, I’d risk it all. My heart and life included.
This book is part of a trilogy and can’t be read on its own.
Reina and Amon’s story is epic, so I expected this to end with a bang and it did not disappoint. Their story is an emotional rollercoaster but in the best possible way. Those two were easy to like and so good together. They faced obstacles, but those were always outside forces at work. They never got over one another, even when they were a world apart, there’s just no coming between these two. One of the things I love most about this book is how it teased Phoenix and Dante’s story because I’m not convinced we’re getting it, but I really, really hope so.
Reina continues to be a complete badass, even when all the odds are against her. She never waivers in her determination, despite facing the ultimate threat. These two have been through a lot, so maybe I expected things to be easier for them now, but life just went from bad to worse. It’s not an easy read and touches on some very dark subject matter but I loved every minute. This jumps from the highest highs to the lowest lows, multiple times, and while the ending wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, it’s perfect for Amon and Reina. Their story is just so much fun to read. I’d like to thank the author and Candi Kane PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
