This series is one of my favorites so I’ve been impatient for Drew’s book but am happy to report it was sooo worth the wait. We didn’t know much about him except that he had to send away his true love’s family and helped the others fight the elite, because Drew kept a lot of secrets. He’s always regretted sending Jane away, especially now that he knows something terrible happened to her family. But Drew has never stopped searching for them, determined to get Jane back or make someone pay for his loss. She’s the only woman he’s ever wanted and he’ll stop at nothing to bring her home.
He’s been chasing leads for years in his efforts to find Jane and has developed quite a bloodlust along the way, as he follows a trail that leads to the worst of the worst in our world: human traffickers. Drew isn’t the same man who sent her away and he fears he’s no longer than man Jane will want once she knows what he’s capable of and the things he’s done, but he won’t give up.
We all know and love Shandra so if you’re like me, you’ve been rooting for them to get together. It’s been hinted at in previous books that there was something between Drew and Shandra so I thought she’d be the woman for him but now that we have a deeper look into Drew, we find out he’s never wanted anyone besides Jane, which changes everything. But they aren’t the only women in his life. Athena is a gorgeous assassin, supreme badass and my new girl crush. She’s an operative for another sect of wealthy powerful men who run the world and the Elite are no big deal in comparison. Athena’s been sent to seduce Drew and take him out, but she may be too attracted to the arrogant man with no soul and a taste for blood to do it.
I couldn’t put this book down and read it cover to cover in a day, it is THAT good. The insight into Drew and the women in his life had me riveted as he chased answers around the world. We get all the others as well and it’s very much an extended epilogue for the rest of the gang, which I loved. There’s really nothing else I can say about the story with being a spoiler so I’ll just say there’s so much suspense and a slow-burn heat that will you drive you crazy in the best possible way. This was the perfect ending for the series, although I’m happy to report that a true extended epilogue for the series in multiple POVs is reportedly coming soon.
