Burn, Re-Write, Re-Read

This is a play on F*ck, Marry, Kill where you choose 3 books at random and decide accordingly. This was a popular book tag a while back but I can’t remember where I saw it so I’m winging it here. I used the random sort option on Goodreads to see my shelf, then used the first 3 books in the results. I enjoyed all of these books, so this wasn’t easy but it was lots of fun, which is why I did 3 rounds.

Round 1

Burn: Crave – I actually liked this book a lot and loved the characters, but I didn’t know going in that it’s a serial. I don’t like cliffhangers and honestly, a book better be amazing if you expect me to wait months to find out what happened. This isn’t 80’s primetime television, you know? There are millions of other books to read so I never finished the series.

Re-Write: A Hurt So Good – This book was great, but banging your stepdad is an ick for me, so I’d edit that out. I also would have liked more background on the characters and would include more of their backstory.

Re-Read: Fraudulently Ever After – This book stands out even in an amazing series because it’s just that good. The main characters are likeable and real, the supporting cast in beyond entertaining and the story is laugh out loud funny in places. I’d give it ten stars on a scale of one to five.

Round 2

Burn: Friends With Benefactors – Too much will they/won’t they, it totally bored me. Shocking to me since I love everything else I’ve ever read by Laura Pavlov but I even tried this book a second time and just couldn’t.

Re-Write: The Van Birch Incident – Loved these characters and their unique story. I would love to know more about them and see more of their HEA but this book holds a special place in my heart for being one of the first stepbrother romances I’ve ever read.

Re-Read: How To Honeymoon Alone – This is a fun, low-angst holiday romance between two strangers who meet after calling off their respective weddings and going on the honeymoon solo. The author was new to me, but I loved her writing style and really enjoyed this story.

Round 3

Burn: Ruckus – Everyone loves Dean Cole, except me. He was never good enough for Rosie and their story was my least favorite of the Sinners of Saint series, which I otherwise love.

Re-Write: Scoring Chance – I loved this book because it’s low angst and fun with amazing banter but I almost bought this book again. Yep, I didn’t remember reading it. This needs some tweaks so it’s not forgettable because the characters are so good.

Re-Read: Killer Instincts – This book has everything: best friend’s sister, a broody assassin, a little mystery and suspense, plus a hilarious cast. The author always gives us a lovely love story with tons of humor, and this is no exception. It’s a great start to a great series.

I love this game and look forward to doing it again soon, even though it can be tough to choose at times. If anyone out there likes to play, please post a link in the comments, I’d love to read yours.
