Review: A Hurt So Good by Erin Trejo

Ayra’s life was perfect. She had a job she loved, a wonderful boyfriend, and enough money to finally buy her dream home. When he ripped it all away, she had no choice but to go and stay with her mother and her new husband.

As she settles into living in her stepdad’s house, Ayra is introduced to her three stepbrothers. Even though she’s never had siblings, she’s pretty sure you shouldn’t be lusting after them. As they become closer and their relationships develop, Arya cannot deny her feelings or attraction to them anymore.

This isn’t the first time Denz, Harlon, and Warren have met a new stepsister. However, it is the first time that one has lit a fire in them, and their protective instincts are out of control. With the three brothers all wanting Ayra, they decide it’s only fair to share her.

When Ayra’s dark past comes knocking, the men in her life will have to make a decision, one that could change all their lives forever.

Arya has to stay with her mother and new stepfather briefly after her ex steals her life savings. It’s not ideal, since she’s never been close to her mom, but she’s grateful and it won’t be for long. She’s not prepared for her new stepdad to be one of the most gorgeous men she’s ever seen, but that’s nothing compared to the three hot stepbrothers she meets there.

She’s had a rough life despite her mom’s success and it’s not getting any easier now that she’s broke and has a stalker. The guys immediately take to her and want to protect her so she’s not going through it alone, but the lengths they have to go to are extreme. Arya is tough and determined to stand up for herself, so she’s not as cautious as she should be, which makes their job harder, so she’s lucky to have them (and their father) on her side.

These characters are all very rough around the edges and pretty trashy, but that’s because their parents are all complete garbage. Her stepfather redeems himself eventually but maybe that’s only because the other parents are so much worse that he looks okay in comparison, I’m not sure. There are a few things I wanted to see that we didn’t get, like how Arya’s friendship with Tracey developed, more about Sasha’s life and what ultimately happened to Rachel and her friends. I also would’ve liked a bit more background on the main characters, especially Arya’s relationship with her father, but there’s a lot of action that keeps things moving and not a dull moment in the book.

There are lots of possibilities for the stalker that will keep you guessing and a few twists and turns, but they do get a HEA. I’d like to thank the author and Candi Kane PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
