This is a play on F*ck, Marry, Kill where you choose 3 books at random and decide accordingly. This was a popular book tag a while back but I can’t remember where I saw it so I’m winging it here. I used the random sort option on Goodreads to see my shelf, then used the first 3 books in the results. I enjoyed all of these books, so this wasn’t easy but it was lots of fun, which is why I did 3 rounds.
Round 1

Burn: The Bookworm’s Guide To Faking It – I loved the first book in this series so was excited to continue it but the second one seriously disappointed me. The first book was fun, funny and sweet, with great characters but the h in this one was irredeemably unlikable. The entire plot was based on her having a temper tantrum and cutting someone out of her life so I couldn’t like her.
Re-Write: In the Unlikely Event – I like this story but it could’ve been better because the H acted like an idiot, all of the conflict could’ve been avoided if the MCs had just communicated instead of acting like children and none of the angst or separation had to happen. I don’t like stories where 100% of their problems come from refusing to communicate, that’s just not interesting and isn’t enough to replace an actual plot.
Re-Read: Tyed – This story is a fun opposites-attract and while I didn’t really understand why she loses it over something that has nothing to do with her, I loved the characters enough to overlook that and reveled in their HEA.
Round 2

Burn: A Vicious Rumor – This was an angsty slow burn HEA with a little steam. There’s a distinct lack of communication so they both make assumptions, which creates a lot of obstacles for their relationship. They’re teens so that’s not unrealistic but it doesn’t necessarily make for an interesting story. I love the premise, but the execution fell flat.
Re-Write: The Seduction of Pretty Lies – This one was tough because I like this book a lot and wouldn’t necessarily rewrite it but there are 3 choices and I had to pick one. I chose this story only because it ends on an excruciating cliffhanger and I think their story would’ve been better as one book instead of two.
Re-Read: Falling Embers – This is a delicious friends-to-enemies-to-lovers second chance romance plus he’s her brother’s best friend and a hot single dad. Oh, and lots of suspense. I mean, what else can I possibly want?
Round 3

Burn: Neanderthal Seeks Human – This book just didn’t do it for me. Janie is so awkward it’s painful and while I suspect the dialogue is supposed to be witty banter, it’s just stream of consciousness insecurity. This is an extraordinarily popular book named one of the top 100 romances of all time but it was a DNF for me because Janie couldn’t hold my interest and all the focus is on her.
Re-Write: Grand Escape – This is a steamy second chance romance that’s equal parts romance and comedy, with a fun supporting cast helping the lovebirds along. I liked this book very much but gave it this spot because the h is frustrating at times.
Re-Read: Twenty Years Later – Back in high school, Jayda had a huge crush on Alex but was too shy to make a move. They meet again on the eve of their twenty-year HS reunion and he asks her to be his date. They share an amazing night together and they both want more, but they’re both single parents with families depending on them and they live thousands of miles apart, so they can’t just get together. Their story is steamy and sweet and I loved everything about it.
I really enjoyed this little exercise and look forward to doing it again soon. If anyone out there likes to play, please post a link in the comments, I’d love to read yours.
