If you – like me – weren’t Billy’s biggest fan, then you will be pleasantly surprised by how likeable he is now. He meddled so much in Madi and Brick’s story and was almost insufferable at times, so I was interested to see how the authors were going to change my mind about Billy, and they did not disappoint. It was even more fun watching Aubrey change her mind about him since she couldn’t stand the sight of him for a long list of varying reasons.
At best, William White III is a shallow capitalist who hurt her bestie but there’s plenty more to dislike, of you ask Aubrey. When they’re forced together to plan the bachelor/bachelorette party as maid of honor and best man, Aubrey is initially irritated to deal with Billy, but quickly changes her mind when she finds out this is his punishment from Brick. Then she absolutely revels in it, doing her best to torture him as much as possible.
Contrary to what Aubrey thinks, Billy doesn’t hate her. Far from it. He wants her in the worst way but she’s his luna’s bestie so a fling would be a bad idea, and flings are all he does. He keeps his distance and his hands to himself, but it’s the hardest thing he’s ever done. And it’s not just lust. Aubrey is struggling with the gaping hole in her life since Madi met Brick. She’s thrilled for her friend but still misses her something terrible. Between running a company and her soon-to-be-husband, Madi doesn’t have time for anything else, not even her BFF. Billy’s a big old softie under that tough exterior, so he’s determined to put a smile on her face.
Billy’s the pack’s fixer, which comes in handy when Aubrey gets herself into the middle of a corporate espionage kerfuffle and appears to be targeted. He goes into full-on protector mode and that’s when things get really interesting. I loved everything about these two and their story. It’s a great addition to a series I love and I can’t recommend it enough. I’d like to thank the authors and Literally Yours PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
