Handsome Devil is a mafia-themed, enemies-to-lovers standalone romance. It deals with sensitive subject matters and includes violence, gore and explicit scenes some might find disturbing. Reader discretion is advised.
Tate Blackthorn is everything you want and more, let’s just get that out of the way right now. You are not prepared for this man but will love every minute of him. I knew I’d love Gia, that she would be strong and smart with cutting wit since she’s besties with Cal and Dylan, so I had no reservations about her. But I can’t say the same about him. There were moments in Row and Rhy’s books where Tate felt irredeemable in every way, but the author works her magic and he’s completely irresistible, easily one of her most charming heroes, which is no small feat.
Gia has been at Tate’s beck and call for years now because he pays her an obscene amount of money to put up with him. He’s even more obnoxious and aggravating than you’d imagined, I promise. Every time she tries to quit he gives her an astronomical raise so she’s earning exponentially more than her peers who work similar hours in stressful roles. She needs that money to care for her ailing mother, she’s stuck and Tate knows it. So when she comes to him for a favor, he pounces, demanding the unthinkable in return: be his wife and give him heirs for his empire.
Tormenting this woman has become his favorite hobby and the more of her he gets, the more he wants. It’s a dangerous game for Tate but even more of one for Gia since he inadvertently landed her in the center of a mafia war, where she became the highest-value target in the game. Now she has to depend on the one man she loathes and doesn’t trust to keep her safe, when she’d love nothing more than to kill him with her own bare hands. These two are fire and I loved them together. We finally get to see what shaped Tate into the monster we all know and why Gia has put up with him for so long and I was there for it. This series is pretty close to perfect and the only thing missing is Kieran’s story. Preferably with Taylor. I’d like to thank the author and Literally Yours PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
