Review: A Simple Life by Melanie Moreland

John Elliott is a busy man. He runs his farm and his business, keeping to himself, with no time for anything else in his life.

Quinn Harper is a single mother, looking for a fresh start.
The small town she picked seemed perfect—until her first run-in with John.

They strike sparks of the wrong kind and insist that keeping their distance is for the best.

Yet, despite his growly nature and curt tone, he is sweet to her daughter.
And he finds himself looking for reasons to be in Quinn’s company.
Do things that make them both smile. Make him feel happy.

Sparks sizzle into a low, banked fire.
And then an inferno erupts.
Neither wanted it.
But now, they can’t live without it.

Quinn and John meet, flirt and bat their eyelashes but just a few minutes in, everything changes. They became instant enemies but kept getting pushed together everywhere they turned. She was not expecting him to be her new landlord but it’s really not possible to avoid someone in a small town anyway, so they might as well be nice to each other to avoid more awkward interactions. Quinn’s daughter, Abby, quickly works her way into Farmer John’s heart and he can’t deny that he wants to know both of them better.

She wasn’t expecting this gruff, serious man to be so sweet and kind, but as she gets to know him, Quinn realizes he’s so much more than she expected, it’s too good to be true. John is the complete opposite of the abusive ex she left behind, the one who only wanted their daughter as a prop in his perfect world and immediately terminated his parental rights to Abby when they divorced. Life was already so much better without his oppression, but meeting John is on a whole different level. They just mesh perfectly. Their story is sweet, spicy and fun. I’d like to thank the author and The Author Agency for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
