Review: Holiday Unscripted by Natasha Madison

From the Something So Series comes a second chance, enemies-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, holiday romance.

Elizabeth
My brother was getting married.
At Christmas no less.
The holiday I hated the most.
Let me list all the reasons why this will be the worst season yet:
One would be my luggage not arriving.
Two would be being told I had to find somewhere else to sleep since my room was occupied by family members.
Oh, and now I am forced to stay with my brother’s best friend.
The man who broke my heart seven years ago.

Nate
My best friend was getting married.
I was happy for him.
Until I had to offer his sister my spare bedroom.
It’d be fine, two weeks and she’d be out of my hair.
But the thing with Elizabeth was that she pushed every single button I have.
She gets under my skin in the best ways.
All we have to do is survive the wedding and the holiday.
Then she’ll be gone yet again.
Unless maybe, just maybe, my wish of having her comes true.

Elizabeth is living her best life as a busy ER doctor in Australia. She doesn’t get home very often because of the distance back to the states but will be there for a few weeks for her brother’s Christmas wedding. She loves her brother and is very happy for him, but Elizabeth is a true grinch who hates the holidays so she’s not looking forward to the myriad of holiday events the bride has planned for everyone to enjoy the week leading up to the wedding.

Her trip home gets off to a rough start when she’s awake for more than 24 hours only to arrive and learn that her luggage is missing. She’s not happy but at least she has all the comforts of home to fall back on. Until she realizes her family forgot to pick her up from the airport so she makes her way home to get another bomb dropped on her: the hotel where the bride’s family is staying had a pipe burst and in the scramble to re-house all the wedding guests, her parents gave her room away.

It’s Christmas week so hotels are full and it’s not like she can just get a room. Enter Nate, her brother’s bestie and Elizabeth’s nemesis. He graciously offers up his guest room and since her family just adores Nate, nobody cares that she can’t stand him. Now she’s living with him and spending all of her time performing karaoke, building gingerbread houses and other unpleasant social interactions, so the whole trip is very trying.

Nate is such a golden retriever, it’s impossible not to love him. Elizabeth is the only one immune to his charms and she never misses an opportunity to flaunt it. I love the relationship between her and her brothers and the way Nate fits into their family. This one is full of banter and zingers and made me laugh out loud a few times. It’s funny and sweet and so much fun. I’d like to thank the author and The Author Agency for providing an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
