Review: The Kiss Lottery by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Roses are red, violets are blue—someone in Rose has feelings for you…

Yeah, bad ones. Everly Davis didn’t leave her tight-knit hometown on the best terms. It’s been ten years, but you don’t forget heartbreak like that. Then again, the anonymous invite to the annual Kiss Lottery in Rose, Tennessee, gives Everly content for her podcast. And she has a bone to pick with that old heartbreak anyway.

Beckett Whitfield has never left Rose—and he’s never forgotten Everly. He even named the villain in his latest bestseller after her. Turns out she’s not happy about that. Nothing about their reunion is particularly happy, and after the way they left things, what did he expect?

When the Kiss Lottery pairs them together, Everly and Beckett will have to confront old feelings that never went away and the secrets they never shared. But finally telling each other everything might be exactly what they’ve needed all along.

Everly and Beckett were best friends their entire lives/. As they grew up, she began to want more but he put up a wall, never acknowledging the tension between them. Eventually his best friend asked her out and they were a couple until he found out she’s in love with Beckett. She never wanted to hurt Carson and Everly is just as much of a victim since the mean girl stole her diary and spread her most private thoughts all over school. Worst of all, the guys cut Everly out completely and have remained best friends to this day, while she’s been anchorless and running away from her hometown.

It’s been ten years, but the humiliation is still fresh, but Everly is going back for her podcast. And that’s the only reason she’s going, she tells herself. Strictly for her job and definitely not to see Beckett Whitfield. Sure. They’re still angry with one another but they also both miss their friend. Life really hasn’t been the same since they parted ways.

There’s a love-hate relationship when they meet again, anger and hurt but also love and want. I adored the banter between them and loved the supporting cast, which was great for a lot of laughs. Their story is funny, sweet and steamy and I loved every minute. I’d like to thank the author and Candi Kane PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
