There are a million reasons why I shouldn’t date Fletcher Huxley.
He’s a growly-faced, stubborn-streaked, international rugby legend trying to revive his flailing career in the US after being canned by his team overseas.
While he might have the good kind of thunder thighs, intriguing tattoos, and a booty of steel, he also holds the top position on my very short nemesis list thanks to what happened the first time we met.
Plus, his mustache is as terrible as the reason he’s picked me to be the woman he wants to date.
But he has one big checkmark in the why this date is a good idea column: he’s my brother’s new teammate.
They already hate each other.
And my brother has made an unfortunate habit of interfering with my love life recently.
So a revenge date with Fletcher to make my brother mad? While letting Fletcher think this date is merely for the good of the team?
Yep.
I’m in.
I’m moving to London for work in a month. And it’s just one date. What could possibly go wrong?
Goldie isn’t a fan of Fletcher Huxley, since she once overheard him make a snarky comment about her soccer career. But when he passes out on her while giving blood, they end up getting to know one another better and becoming unlikely friends. There’s an attraction and though they ignore it at first, she’s moving to London in a few weeks and won’t be returning to Copper Valley, so it’s the perfect time for a fling.
Fletcher has a gruff, sober exterior in direct contrast to Goldies’ sunny, outgoing personality. She’s all motivation and self-confidence, finding the best in everyone, while he sees the worst in everything, except for her. The characters are likeable and fun, with great banter, which I love. It’s kind of a slow-burn but I enjoyed watching them become such good friends before taking it further. This is funny, low angst, steamy goodness and a great start to a new series. I can’t wait for more Pounders Rugby, with their innuendo-laden casual wear. I’d like to thank the author and Give Me Books PR for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
