Easton Hayes has been my knight in shining hockey skates since he saved my life.
This devastatingly handsome grump may be everyone’s favorite goalie, but to me, he’s my strength when demons haunt my dreams. And okay—so maybe he’s also the only man I’ve ever loved. But he doesn’t need to know that.
We’re friends.
It works for us.
At least, it did. Until I wake up with his ring on my finger and the hangover from hell. But what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas when he refuses to give me an annulment and follows me across the country instead.
Now our families are furious.
Our friends are playing matchmaker.
I’m getting goosebumps each time I hear the words “my wife.”And I think my husband might be in love with me.
The Keeper is a spicy sports romance, between a hot hockey player and an ice princess figure skater, with an angry teammate twist, plenty of banter and a happily ever after. This is the first book in the second generation of Kroydon Hills and can be enjoyed as a standalone.
I’ve been looking forward to Lindy and Easton’s story so I was very grateful to get an ARC to shorten the wait. I’m happy to say, it was even better than I’d expected and I couldn’t put this book down. The characters pulled me right in from the first page and you can never go wrong with an accidental marriage but there was so much more. Easton saved Lindy’s life years ago, but she’d been in love with him long before then. She’s never acted on her feelings or admitted her crush to him, but he’s known for a long time. He also wanted her just as much, but with a five year age gap, it was totally inappropriate so Easton had to keep his distance. Drafted into the NHL at just seventeen, he’s been living on his own across the country for years but the two have only grown closer. They were always friends but really bonded after her near-death experience.
Lindy’s love for her hero has only grown since then, but she’s convinced he doesn’t see her that way. Easton wants Lindy more than anything, but he doesn’t think he’s good enough for her so he’s never owned up to it. Until now. They wake up married in Vegas and Lindy has no idea what happened. She recalls being at a club with her friends, but the rest is blank. What has she done? Horrified, Lindy demands an immediate annulment but to her shock, he refuses. Easton says he won’t even consider it until she remembers last night, then if she still wants the annulment, he’ll agree. What. The. Hell.
That was not at all what she expected and Lindy’s whole world is upside down. The media broadcasted the news before she even woke up and realized she was married, so needless to say, her entire family is furious. They all just assume Easton took advantage when she was drunk and the annulment is guaranteed since they treat her like a child. Plus, her husband is driving her crazy and she’s not sure if she loves him or hates him. Easton’s facing consequences too, mostly in the form of an angry Jace, who wants to pummel the goalie every chance he gets. I loved these characters and everything about their story. There’s banter and heat and emotion and I couldn’t get enough.
The supporting cast is amazing as expected, introducing us to the others in the series and giving us more of the Kingston clan, which is always fun. I especially enjoyed seeing the loving relationship she still has with Brandon, even now that she’s grown, and the way he supports her when nobody else does. This is a fantastic start to a new series and I can’t wait for more. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
