Review: Contract With the Mafia Boss by Ashlie Silas

A chance encounter led to a dating contract with a mafia boss.

I needed a boyfriend and he needed a building my father owns. Strictly business.

It was the perfect scheme but I screwed up and fell for the ruthless Carlo D’Angelo.

As if things weren’t complicated enough, his rugged good looks and chiseled physique only add to the chaos.

Now I have to figure out how to keep my heart at bay,

especially when he introduces me as… his.

Fake relationship with a dark, broody hitman? Yes, please! I’m so glad that I found this book because I couldn’t put it down. The characters drew me in from the first page and while I wasn’t a big fan of Carlos in Topher and Katherine’s book, he won me over fast here. The stoic mafia man has a heart after all, but only for Tori. She’s a pediatric ER resident being pressured to marry some creep by her parents. She’s twenty-eight and still single, what will people think? I wish Tori had stood up to her parents more but making up a fake boyfriend was the easy way out since she didn’t want to disappoint them.

Her plan was just about to blow up in her face when she arrived at the gala stag, freaking out about the non-existence of her fake lover. Tori was close to panic after a run-in with the sleaze her parents chose for her. Luck was on her side though when she crashed right into a gorgeous stranger who went along with the charade under her mother’s questioning. They bickered a lot at first and found ways to get under one another’s skin but as they spent more time together, they realized there was more to this than just a fake relationship.

These two had a lot to overcome, including a bit of other woman drama, her pushy overbearing parents, the skeevy guy who thought she’d be forced to marry him and her inner struggle with Carlo’s line of work, but they were determined to see where this goes. I really loved these two and their story. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
