Nobody warned me what it’s like to look back with regret. To be left wondering, What if…?
I’ve never been that guy. The one who questioned his choices. Who didn’t have a purpose.
If I wanted something, I worked harder than everyone else and made it happen.
I had my life planned out until Carys Murphy changed the game.
She was my best friend’s little sister long before she became my stepsister. Loving her was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. But not all love stories have happy endings.
With the risks higher than ever, and the flames rising around us, can we find our way back?
Or will we crash and burn?
*This book was originally titled Ending the Game but was changed after release.*
I could not wait for this conclusion. The cliffhanger in the first book wasn’t just huge but also far-reaching so it was a killer. There was a lot of action right at the end so many loose ends. This book hits the ground running from the first page and the wild pace continues. One of the things I loved the most is that we get answers right away but there’s also a huge twist I didn’t see coming. The story takes off in a different direction than expected but it’s perfect.
Carys and Cooper are such great characters. They’re likeable and sympathetic and very real. I also loved the supporting cast in this story and they’re a much bigger facet in the conclusion. This book was so emotional in the beginning and parts were rough but things got better as the story progressed. This story will have your emotions all over the place. There are pieces that absolutely broke my heart but there’s a beautiful HEA eventually. There’s lots of steam and also unexpected suspense. This duet is intense but I mean that in the best possible way. I’m a picky reader and don’t like to be sad so any story that brings me to tears but still gets five stars is an instant favorite. I loved everything about these characters and their story and will read these books again.
This world left me wanting more and I so only hope the author has plans to continue it. I think I speak for a lot of readers when I say that we would love to see more of Rook, especially if he can heal the broken heart of a certain sweet girl who lost her happiness and deserves it more than anyone. If you haven’t read this duet, stop what you’re doing right now and do it. You’ll thank me later. I received an ARC from Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.
