ARC Review: Envy by Eva Charles

My dark prince. My greatest temptation. My husband.

Antonio Huntsman isn’t the prince of childhood fairy tales.
He’s savage and dangerous.
The ruthless king I need.
The beast I crave.

Together we’ll fight the monsters.
The demons threatening to tear us apart.
The villains who will stop at nothing to destroy everything.
Our family.
Our valley.
Our love.

There will be no mercy.
We will take no prisoners.
I pray we make it out alive.

Envy is the heart-stopping conclusion to A Sinful Empire Trilogy, which begins with Greed. It is a dark romance with dark themes.
Forbidden fruit has never been sweeter, especially the final bite…

I say it with every book in this trilogy, but this saga is an emotional roller-coaster and I mean that in the best possible way. I never get enough of Daniela and Antonio. The cliffhanger at the end of Lust was a killer in so many ways but it was worth the wait. We pick up at the river after the race, right where we left off and I love that we get answers right away. That’s not to say there’s no mystery because there’s plenty of suspense, but we learn the immediate fate of everyone on the boat. We also don’t wait long to learn Cristiano’s fate, which was up in the air from fairly early in the previous book (at least for me).

Like the others, this one isn’t without heartbreak. There’s more loss and betrayal. Daniela handles it like a badass, as always, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t suffer. Antonio made great strides in the second book and while he may falter here, all isn’t what it seems. I adored this series in every way, from the hot-as-hades Antonio to Daniela ruling an empire. One of my favorite things is all the strong women, especially the backstory with Daniela’s mom and Lydia and all the good work that they did, endangering their own lives to save women from unspeakable horrors. I love the author’s writing style. She weaves vivid imagery that paints a picture in my mind and even made me fall a little in love with some bad guys. The ending has an unexpected twist that put a smile on my face and there’s a perfect epilogue giving Daniela and Antonio everything I wanted for them. I received an ARC from Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.
