Review: Save Me by Ashley Rostek

Save me from my past.
Save me from my fear.
Save me from my pain.
Save me from myself.

The Stone brothers are the reason I can smile again. They are my only light in the drowning darkness. What started as friendship between them and me has become something more. They want me and I want them, too. But that won’t happen with my grief tearing me apart.

The story picks up exactly where we left off in the previous book but it feels different. The first book was more about Shiloh’s situation in life, her history and the possibilities for her future; This book focused more on her relationship with the Stone brothers but I’m fine with that. I loved this one as much as the first, right up until the very end because the cliffhanger seems much crazier this time, however that may just be my impatience. I don’t know how I made this mistake, but I was under the impression this was the conclusion so when this book ended abruptly in the midst of action, I was floored.

I won’t say anything too specific but suffice it to say that Shiloh’s life just keeps becoming more complicated. Things are coming at her from all directions and she has lots of new problems specific to her current location and relationship with the guys. These new obstacles keep popping up and her problems compound but I wasn’t at all prepared for a shocking betrayal that really made me angry. Lots of readers love the extended suspense and building anticipation of cliffhangers like this, but I am not one of them. I usually wait until a series is complete to start it for that reason but for better or worse, I’m hooked and now I’ve got to wait.

And wait and wait. And possibly wait some more because there isn’t even a release date for the next book. That’s a huge disappointment and I hope it changes soon but for now, I’ll have to reread the first two books to satisfy my need for more. And in the meantime, I will be obsessively checking for a release date announcement.
