Review: Beautifully Ruined by Kira Cole

Violet
I should be happy that Cade rescued me,
but all I can think of is the girl who was being held captive with me.
I made a promise that I’d get her out of there.
A promise that I intend to keep.
Even if it means exposing myself,
exploring desires I never even knew I had.
I tell myself that I can handle it,
but how far am I willing to go for someone I barely know?

CADE
Vi is fixated on this girl.
She’s not going to stop until she finds her.
I use every available source to try and figure out who this girl is.
Our search leads us to a forbidden club called The Dungeon.
Turns out, Vi’s got more fantasies hidden away than she realized,
I’m determined to help her unlock them.
I thought finding out who I really am might kill our spark,
but if anything, it’s burning even brighter than before.
But the thing with fire is someone always ends up getting hurt…

Beautifully Ruined is book 2 of the Devoted in the Darkness duet, where Cade & Violet’s dangerously addictive story began in Sweetly Unhinged—an ex’s brother’s, golden-retriever hacker romance with age gap tension and sinful heat.

Loved this ending so much! This one isn’t just a two-book series, the books are long too but worth every minute. I absolutely adored Vi and Cade and their crazy world. The first book ended on a cruel cliffhanger and the action here picks up right where that one left off. Vi getting kidnapped wasn’t even the biggest problem they’re facing, as they don’t even know where the danger is coming from yet. Cade’s work is the obvious assumption but Violet’s determination to do good in the world and right wrongs has put a target on her back too.

Her time in captivity was short, but she met another woman who disappeared before Cade and Enzo reached Vi, so now she’s become consumed with rescuing ‘Jean’, the neighboring prisoner she met in Ivan’s lair. It’s not all hacking and organized crime though, because Violet still needs to find a new internship to complete her degree and Jack needs to know Vi and Cade are in love. These two have a lot of plates in the air. Their story is sweet and funny with plenty of heat and a few surprises. I’m so glad that I picked up Sweetly Unhinged because the author was new to me but I’m obsessed.
