Review: Love Me Stalk Me by Laura Bishop

IZZY:
Downloading an AI boyfriend app was supposed to be harmless fun. A digital distraction from my disaster-prone love life.

What I didn’t plan?
Programming it to look like Callahan—the tattooed, brooding head of loss prevention at my store.

Those green eyes that watch me a little too closely.
That jawline that makes my heart race for all the wrong reasons.

But it’s just an app, right?
No harm in confessing my darkest, filthiest fantasies to a bunch of code.
No one will ever know.

CALLAHAN:
I hacked her phone.
And no, I won’t pretend it was an accident.

From the moment I saw her with a man who couldn’t be bothered to look up from his screen, I knew—she should be mine. Now I’m her new head of loss prevention, which means watching her is literally my job. Then she downloaded an AI boyfriend, made him look exactly like me, and started sharing every delicious fantasy she’s kept hidden.

Except she’s not talking to an algorithm.
She’s talking to me.
And now that I know exactly what she needs, I’m not letting her go.

Love Me, Stalk Me is a dark romantic comedy. Reader discretion is advised, as the book deals with some possibly triggering themes, but in a humorous way (hopefully).

Have you heard about the one with the lovable stalker who pretends to be her perfect AI boyfriend so she falls for him? The premise is a bit crazy but hear me out, I loved every minute of it and you will too. Callahan is a little bit obsessed with his new coworker Izzy so when he gets his hands on her phone to do some network security thing, he also takes the opportunity to note that she’s created an AI boyfriend and a plan forms. Izzy’s friend talks her into using an app to fill the void in her life created by the existence of her disconnected, disinterested real-life boyfriend who just makes her feel unwanted and ignored. Cal’s plan is stalker-light at best for dark romance lovers but still fun.

Izzy is great but I would’ve like to see a bit more confidence and her kicking the zero to the curb much sooner. She also has some serious body image issues, so she focuses on her physical self often and I just wanted her to love herself more. Cal is a golden retriever protector type you can’t help but love. This angsty with a bit of steam and suspense and overall a fun read. I’d like to thank the author and The Author Agency for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
