She’s horribly unqualified…and everything they both need.
Travis
The last time I saw my ex-fling, she was toasting her engagement to a record producer. So when I heard she’d had a baby, I assumed he was the father…until she showed up at my house seven years later with a little boy and said, “Your turn.”
I’m a drummer who works afternoons and nights. My life is loud, chaotic, and definitely not kid-friendly. But I was raised by a nanny, and I see no harm in finding one for my son.
Too bad he rejects every single person I hire.
The only person he actually likes?
Not a nanny. She’s a friend of a friend and the former floor manager at a brewery. But she has just enough childcare experience that I offer her the job out of desperation…and instantly regret it.
Hannah is a bossy, opinionated hurricane of a woman who tests my patience, my sanity, and my number one rule: don’t fall for the nanny.
Hannah
Let the record show, I am not a professional nanny. I did, however, help raise my little brother, so I know my way around a juice box and a tantrum. Which is more than Travis can say.
My new boss is uptight, repressed, and needs more help than he realizes, especially since single parenthood isn’t the only challenge he’s facing. His band is about to become more than just a hobby, and the past he doesn’t want to acknowledge is pushing its way into the present.
I was determined to pop in, whip things into shape, and leave, but the more I get to know them, the more I want to stay…

Travis became a single dad to a 7-year-old instantly when a former fling shows up and drops a bomb. Ollie was just abandoned by his parents. His mother is tired of parenting and wants to travel the world partying. Her husband has been Ollie’s father his whole life, but the man has disavowed the boy after finding out there’s no blood relation. Travis feels like he’s failing the boy every step of the way because he doesn’t know how to be a dad and this is tough on both of them.
Hannah is a friend of a friend who steps in as emergency childcare when his life turns upside down, but she’s the last person Travis wants around. Too bad for him Hannah is the only person Ollie wants around, so he drives away every nanny in an effort to force Travis to hire Hannah. They’re complete opposites and the last thing Travis needs is more chaos in his life. She’s chaos personified but the attraction is mutual, and their chemistry is off the charts. Hannah is the only person Ollie has bonded with since he arrived so they have to remain professional and ignore this thing between them for Ollie’s sake. Or so they tell themselves.
I loved these characters, especially Ollie, who’s precocious and funny and exactly what you expect from a 7-year-old genius. Hannah and Travis are great too, and they’re surrounded by quirky characters we know and love from Rob and Sophie’s story, as well as some new additions. This is a sweet, funny, slow-burn that I couldn’t put down and I can’t wait to see whose story comes next. I’d like to thank the author and The Author Agency for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
