The guy I just met at the mansion I inherited from a complete stranger?
He’s drop dead gorgeous. Sexy. And rude with a Capital R. Turns out he’s not the hot gardener as I wrongly assumed.
He’s not only a famous rock star who grew up in the house, he’s also ready to fight for it. And being both hot-headed and Irish, he’s going to fight hard and dirty.
I’m not moving out. Full Stop. But neither is he. So we agree on some simple rules.
We’ll play roommates for a while. What could possibly go wrong? Living together with an Irish Hothead will surely cause a major storm.
Let’s hope bracing that storm won’t turn into a hurricane.
Lori isn’t sure what to expect when she finds out she’s inheriting an estate in Ireland from a complete stranger. She only met Roisin Walsh once and couldn’t possibly have made that much of an impression on the woman. Yet somehow, she did because Roisin changed her will to leave Lori the property soon after their one and only encounter. Her career recently imploded, thanks to her conniving brother, so she’s got time to travel even though money is scarce. Life has changed immensely since Lore went from white collar work to waiting tables in a diner but she’s willing to spend her hard-earned money to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Enter Patrick, the gruff, broody, downright rude caretaker of the estate. He’s sex on legs, despite his bad attitude and barbed words. She doesn’t want to want him, but the sight of this man does things to Lori that she’s never before experienced. Not that she would ever admit it to the jerk. His ego is too big already. Of course, he sees things differently. She’s the enemy, the stranger trying to steal his childhood home and rightful inheritance. The swindler who tricked his estranged mother into leaving her the family estate. The entire situation is preposterous, and he has no idea how this happened, but Patrick is determined to stop it. Lori will not get his house, of that he is sure.
This is a smoldering slow-burn with all the tension, balanced by great banter and a touch of suspense. The characters are great, and I loved everything about their story, except for the cliffhanger. The duet is my first read by the author but certainly won’t be the last. I really enjoyed the writing style and the humor so I can’t wait for more. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
