Review: Bridesmaid by Chance by Meghan Quinn

When a chance at being a bridesmaid turns into a chance at being a bride, how can she possibly refuse?

Hudson Hopper is in trouble. After doing his business partner Jude a favor by hiring Jude’s younger sister Sloane, Hudson very quickly finds out that she is a massive distraction—especially since she’s now his assistant.

Things get more complicated when Hudson volunteers Sloane to fill in as a bridesmaid for a potential client, and she agrees…with certain stipulations. She’ll be a part of the Regency wedding—corset and all—if Hudson marries her. Sloane knows the value of the trade: he needs her to get into a high-society club to help secure his business deal, and she could use a down payment to secure her childhood home in return.

It’s an instant no from Hudson at first, but when she convinces him that no one will find out, including her brother, and points out how he will benefit from the marriage too…well, Hudson might just find himself saying “I do.”

I loved everything about this book. Sloane and Hudson are by far my favorite couple in the series. Their story is laugh-out-loud funny, like don’t open it up during a boring work meeting and try to read a chapter on the DL because you will out yourself in minutes, guaranteed. (Trust me, I speak from experience here.) Hudson hired his best friend and business partner’s little sister because she needs some real world experience and isn’t sure what she wants to do with her life. He didn’t think it would be a big deal, until she asks him to marry her.

Sloane didn’t plan on proposing. She can’t believe she even did it to be honest, but it’s the quickest way to solve their problems, probably the only way to solve them. Sure, it’s a little out there but he’ll close his business deal and she’ll get the money she needs to follow her dreams. It will be simple, she decides. It doesn’t matter that she’s had a crush on Hudson Hopper since the moment she laid eyes on him in Bora Bora when they first met. Besides, they’re both attractive people committed to their marriage, so they should enjoy the benefits, she reasons. To her shock, Hudson is not on board. He knows he’s already crossed so many lines, but that’s one he won’t step over, he can’t. She takes that as a personal challenge and Hudson barely manages to survive it, but he maintains for a ridiculously long time, to Sloane’s surprise and my own.

This is one of the best slow-burns I’ve ever read and I couldn’t get enough. Their story has all the things: tension, slow burn, laugh out loud banter and I loved these characters so much. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
