Review: Someday You Learn by Harlow James

“I’m here to see my fiancé. I believe you know Parker, Dad…”

That sentence seems innocent enough in the right setting.

But the woman’s father? Yeah, he happens to be my boss.

The first time I met Cashlynn O’Neil, she thought she was going to die before the plane we were on ever left the ground.

So I did what any gentleman would do—I comforted her, kept her distracted, and then later that night, she ended up back in my hotel room to thank me.

But then a year later she waltzed in the Carrington Cove Animal Hospital and told her father we were engaged.

And that would have been harmless, except the last time I was engaged it left me scarred beyond repair, vowing never to entertain the idea of love again.

I can’t fall for my boss’s daughter.

I can’t keep lying to myself about how I feel either.

But is it possible that someday you learn that it’s not the wrong person that will make you question what you want in life, but it’s the right one?

And is Cashlynn the right woman for me?

The meet cute here was adorably perfect when Parker and Cashlynn first meet on a plane. He comforts the beautiful woman who’s afraid of flying and there’s a spark between them that quickly turns into something more. He just can’t understand why she ran away afterward, and he can’t stop thinking about her a year later. The last thing he expected is to see her waltz into the veterinary clinic where he works and announce to her father, his boss, that she and Parker are engaged. He can’t imagine why she would do such a thing, especially since it could jeopardize his job and his future.

Cashlynn is making big life changes, ones she knows her dad won’t like but she has to do this so she needs an excuse for quitting her job and leaving Philadelphia behind to move to Carrington Cove. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to say to her dad and the idea popped into her head at the site of Parker. She’s never been passionate about law and practicing for years after law school hasn’t changed that. If anything, her job is a constant reminder of the dreams she hasn’t pursued, the ones she’s ready to chase. She just needs to make her father see what success means to her.

Parker and Cashlynn have an immediate connection but it’s not easy pulling off a fake engagement to someone you’ve only met once before. He’s fielding some curveballs with his career already and wants nothing more than to be the one to take over the practice after her father’s impending retirement, but this fake engagement might be ruining everything. Boss man is not happy to hear Parker’s been secretly dating his daughter and didn’t even asking for his blessing before proposing. This was sweet and funny and really enjoyed it. I’d like to thank the author and The Author Agency for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
