Review: Good Pucking Luck by Riley Hart

Hayes
Proposing to my first boyfriend at a hockey game wasn’t my smartest move. Not only does said boyfriend walk out on me, but the whole stupid thing goes viral, and it turns out the man I was dating has too many boyfriends to count. Internet fame has crowned me a member of the Jilted Exes’ Club, a name I’d do anything to escape.

One thing’s for sure: I’m not making the same mistake again. No more boyfriends, just easy hookups. And I’ll start with this gorgeous catch in Seattle. The only problem…he’s a god in bed, and I’m an inexperienced mess.

Rylan
After a night with Hayes, I play some of the best games of my career. It’s meant to be a one-and-done deal, but when I find out he also lives in LA and doesn’t want anything serious, I see an opportunity.

Hayes wants experience. I want my good-luck charm to help me win the cup.

The media would go wild over a pro hockey player dating a member of the Jilted Exes’ Club—a distraction neither of us needs. We want this to stay simple. Easy. No strings, no falling in love.

Except I’m pretty sure I’ve already fallen. After all Hayes has been through, how do I get him to entrust his heart to someone who’s only ever been labeled a player on and off the ice?

Hayes thinks he’s found The One but proposing to his boyfriend does not go as planned. Not only is he humiliated at the lack of a ‘yes’, his man actually ghosts him and Hayes becomes a meme. If only he hadn’t proposed at a hockey game, maybe he wouldn’t be in the spotlight, but he can’t turn back time so now he’s caught in the media circus of The Jilted Exes Club. That’s what the gossip sites are calling it since Hayes wasn’t the only man his sleazy ex was seeing. Something good does come out of all this since he makes some new friends with the other guys who fell for sleaze. It also spurs him to take some risks and shake up his life, which leads to a hot-as-hades one nighter with a sexy stranger. Unbeknownst to Hayes, Rylan is a hockey god, which changes everything.

The following night, Rylan is absolute fire on the ice and decides he’s playing so well because Hayes is good pucking luck. Of course he does, since athletes are such a superstitious bunch. They agree to be FWB through the season but soon realize this is so much more. Hayes is a slightly awkward introvert who hasn’t been with many guys and the sleaze was his first real boyfriend. Despite being gorgeous, smart and funny, he doesn’t have enough self-confidence, but Rylan is determined to show Hayes that he’s amazing.

Rylan is the biggest cinnamon roll and everything that Hayes needs. I loved these two together and their story is so much fun. This is a low angst love story that will make your heart happy and a great introduction to a new series. This is my first book from the author but certainly won’t be the last. I can’t wait for more Jilted Exes Club. I’d like to thank the author and Literally Yours PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
