Review: The Boyfriend Goal by Lauren Blakely

A forbidden romance with my brother’s hockey teammate wasn’t on my to-do list when I moved across the country…

Neither was getting locked out of a friend’s place wearing next to nothing.

Or spending the night with the sexy stranger who rescues me.

But I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone so getting out of the rest of my clothes with him seems like a good way to start.

In the morning, I learn the filthy-mouthed man with the talented hands is not only the hotshot new hockey player on my brother’s team: he’s also – wait for it – my brand new roommate.

I’m a good student turned good librarian. A rule-follower. I’m not the kind of girl who does complicated flings. So we agree to another rule: friends-only.

It’s not easy though. Wes is bossy, flirty and generous.

He gives me rides to work.

Pitches in at my library’s fundraiser.

Takes care of me when I get hurt.

And looks at me like I’m the only one.

Soon, I’m falling hard for my brother’s teammate.

Especially when Wes comes to my door and tells me exactly how he’d like to break our rules.

Every single one.

Tropes: A brand-new MF teammate’s little sister, roommates-to-lovers, forbidden, forced proximity hockey romance that brings all the feels and heat!

Josie is excited to move from Maine to San Francisco for a new job, but she gets off to a rough start, locking herself out of her bestie’s apartment, in just a t shirt and slippers. Oops. She braves an uncomfortable walk through the city to find her friend at work, only to be humiliated upon arrival by the gallery owner. Before she can even react, a handsome stranger swoops in to save her and gets her into the show so she can find her friend. They really hit it off and end up spending the night together, but Josie has to rush out in the morning without even saying goodbye.

Wes is disappointed to find his dream girl gone when he wakes, but she left her scarf behind, and he’s determined to find her again. He’s not sure how to begin his search but his mystery woman practically falls into his lap when the captain asks his teammates for a favor: his sister is in town for three months and needs a place to stay. Wes has no idea Josie’s the captain’s sister until he comes face-to-face with his new roommate.

Despite the attraction between them, they’re both determined to do the right thing and keep a distance but living together proves too tempting. I loved these characters as individuals and together. They have great banter, and their relationship is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. It was fun to see them genuinely becoming friends then finally giving in. Things aren’t all sunshine and roses though, because her job is ending way too soon, and the next one could be anywhere. Even with the uncertainty, this way low angst and unputdownable. I really loved Wes and Josie so I’m excited to see who else the series pairs up. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
