Review: Never Have I Ever by SL Scott

She can’t remember. He can’t forget.

Flat on my back is not how I imagined meeting my new boss and hot-as-sin rock star. But here I am . . .

If I didn’t already have amnesia, I’d be wishing for it now.

In my defense, Laird Faris was only wearing a shameless smirk and a towel wrapped around his chiseled abs when we met.

Brooding.
Devastatingly handsome.
Utterly intolerable.

Naturally, I’m instantly attracted to him.

It’s not only his broad shoulders and gorgeous face that wreck my equilibrium, but also a distinct tattoo on his chest that matches one on my hip.

Our chemistry is off the charts.
Searing kisses make his grumpiness bearable.
Every touch we share is full of fire and flashes of memories, making me wonder if our connection isn’t destiny after all.

But do the secrets he hides behind his icy blue eyes have something to do with the weekend I can’t remember and the past he can’t forget?

This one is an emotional rollercoaster from the first pages, and it was worth every minute. It’s one of those books that breaks your heart but puts it back together again before it’s over and I adored it. Poppy and Laird meet in a most unlikely way, and they have an instant connection. It’s crazy and they’re both a little scared but he wants to go all in and hopes she does too. Laird asks her to come on tour with the band because he doesn’t want to leave her but when morning comes, Poppy is nowhere to be found.

I was aghast on Laird’s behalf because not showing up at all, not even to explain why it’s a no, is cruel and cold. It turns out that Poppy had a very good reason she didn’t make it to him that day, but she doesn’t remember it. She doesn’t even remember him, but Laird has been looking for her for two years and he can’t lose her again. He’s determined to help her see they’re meant to be, which he believes completely. Their love is fated destiny because when the world rips them apart for no apparent reason, it devastates them each in their own way, but the forces pushing them together are much stronger and lead them back to one another eventually.

These characters were amazing, and Laird is the perfect book boyfriend. I stayed up far too late into the night because I couldn’t put it down. This is already on my best of 2024 list, without question. I didn’t think any other character in this world could beat out Noah Westcott as my favorite man from the author but then Cash Ryatt came along, and I reconsidered. But Laird is now a contender, these characters and their story are just that good. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
