Phoenix Montgomery is my sister’s ex-fiancé.
Billionaire heir and freshly released from prison.
One glance is all it takes to rekindle our old hatred.
Now, I’m forced to marry him.
To live with him.
To pretend I’m in love with him.
But he doesn’t know our lives are tangled in lies.
He doesn’t know I have a stalker.
And now, he’s a target too.
My goal is to survive.
His is to make my life hell.
However, the past doesn’t stay in the past.
And soon, old emotions re-appear.
It’s messy. Forbidden. Addictive.
He can’t ever find out I was the one who put him in prison.
Or all the other terrible things I’m responsible for.
Neither one of us would survive that.
Tangled in Lies is a steamy enemies-to-lovers arranged marriage standalone romance with a HEA, no third-act breakup, and no cliffhanger.
Evangeline is the black sheep of the family, but she’s used to the role. She was fine with it too, until losing Connie, but everything is different since her beloved sister’s death. Phoenix was Connie’s fiancé back then, but now he’s marrying Evie, despite their extremely complicated relationship. More like because of it. He’s still stunned that his former friend is the one responsible for his prison sentence and has had three long years inside to plot his revenge. Their engagement is only step one, and she has no idea what’s coming.
Phoenix is the only man Evie’s ever loved and she never imagined he’d marry her sister. She doesn’t understand how they even ended up engaged but with Connie gone forever and Phoenix locked up, she wasn’t going to get any answers. Until he shows up at her birthday party and Evie’s father announces their engagement. Phoenix has ulterior motives and Evie’s keeping secrets, but her biggest problem is the stalker who’s been after her for years. The one blackmailing her at every turn and holding her future hostage. The one who holds everyone she loves up as collateral and proved it in the worst way possible. The one who forced her to commit an unspeakable act.
This book is such a wild ride, and I loved every minute of it. There were so many twists and turns, it was addictive. This is the kind of book you can’t put down, the type that makes you rationalize reading ‘just one more chapter’ when it’s way past your bedtime. The characters are likeable, and their story is full of surprises. Evie is so brave and strong, sacrificing everything to protect the people she loves.
Phoenix is perfect for her in every way, and he has the dirtiest mouth, I couldn’t get enough of these two. It’s all suspense, heat and action and I loved everything about it. I really hope that Holden’s story is coming soon. He’s the best third wheel ever and I want to see his happily ever after too. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
