Review: I Wish I Would’ve Chosen You by Whitney G.

PLEASE AVOID THE BLURB FOR THIS BOOK.

This story will hurt you a lot less if you scroll by and go in BLIND, trust me…

But if you *have* to know what you’re getting into, you can read the synopsis below. I should’ve known better.
I should’ve left her alone…

She told me she was twenty-one.
I found out that was a lie.

There was over a decade between us, and sure, she was mature for her age, but I kept my distance every chance I could.

At least, I tried to.

There aren’t too many places to hide on a boarding school’s campus, and there are far more places to get caught…

I never intended for this to happen.
I was her English professor, and she was only supposed to be my student.

**See? That’s why you shouldn’t have read this blurb and went in blind. Alas, this is an emotional ride of a romance with toxic undertones that will drive you to some unexpected places. The author just felt like writing this story one day, so don’t say you weren’t warned about what you were getting into.**

This one is a very wild ride and so worth it. It’s a taboo student-teacher relationship and she’s barely legal. They meet purely by accident and have no idea they’ll be seeing each other in a high school classroom regularly from now on. They both know it’s wrong, but the pull is so strong. Genevieve is an old soul, with no friends her own age. She’s a brilliant student, bored with her boarding school studies. She needs to be challenged and school isn’t doing it. Her parents ignore her, and she doesn’t socialize with peers at all, so she doesn’t have many options. But she finds a way to sneak off campus and travel to the city to a favorite bookstore for various events.

Liam becomes something of a mentor to her, but they’re always dancing on the line, not completely inappropriate, but certainly not appropriate, either. Genevieve was passionate and explosive and fun to read. She was frustrating at times but was really just acting her age. There were a couple of good twists I didn’t see coming, which is always fun. It was hard to sympathize with Liam at first, but I warmed up to him later. I thought I knew what was coming, but the author made this trope her own with one surprise. This author is still relatively new to me, but I like her more with every book. I’d like to thank the author and Candi Kane PR for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
