A forbidden night with my brother’s best friend led to a secret baby for the merciless don.
I wanted out of the mafia world, so I moved away to start a new life.
A funeral forced me to return home, where I found myself in the arms of my sworn enemy, Roman De Luca.
He’s as ruthless as he is handsome, and with the passing of his father, he is now the mafia boss.
One night, a fire ignited between us, and I was reminded of why he was my childhood crush.
Disregarding our mutual hate, his new mob boss status, and most importantly, the fact that he’s my brother’s best friend… we crossed a line that he demanded we NEVER cross again.
Then I found out… I’m pregnant.
This story had a little bit of everything: enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, forbidden love, mafia and a secret baby and I absolutely loved it. Elena and Roman bother grew up in the mafia. She’s made a life for herself in Boston with a successful career, but her family wants her to come home and settle down. Roman took his place at the head of the family very young when his father died tragically so he’s struggling to find his footing as the new boss. He’s a lot younger than most of the capos and the men aren’t happy with a kid at the helm.
When Elena comes home for a visit, she and Roman are at each other’s throats as always, but one night they give in. When she realizes she’s pregnant, she doesn’t know what to do. Her family will be furious that she’s pregnant since she’s not married. Roman can’t stand her and called their night together a mistake. Still, she has to tell him since it’s his child too. But with the upheaval in the family and his position in flux, he doesn’t need the distraction. He’s in the middle of a mob war and can’t even count on loyalty from his own men. It’s further complicated because he’s her brother’s best friend so she’s forbidden to him and her father is his consigliere. Revealing the truth could destroy everything.
She depends on her best friend to help her navigate this strange new world she finds herself in as she struggles to figure out how to tell Roman and her family. Elena frustrated me at times, but I still liked her a lot. Roman is exactly the kind of hot alpha don I want in my mafia romance. The characters were great and I enjoyed their story a lot so I’m hoping we get Michael and Kiera’s story next. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
