Review: Echoes of You by Catherine Cowles

Nash Hartley has always been my everything: Protector. Partner in crime. Best friend. The person who was there for me in my darkest hour.

But my heart wanted so much more. So, when I knew for certain Nash didn’t feel the same about me, I tried to move on. What a mistake that turned out to be.

Now, I’m back in our small town, desperate to escape my living nightmare, and the only person I want to see is him.

As secrets are revealed, and Nash finds out what happened to me, he’ll do anything to keep me safe.

But there are those who will do anything to stop him, and this time neither of us may make out alive…

Maddie and Nash were even better than I’d expected. These lifelong besties shared everything over the year, except for one very important discussion. Maddie was convinced her love for Nash was completely unrequited. Why would she put herself through the guaranteed heartbreak of confessing to her BFF when she knew he didn’t feel the same? She wasn’t going to do anything to risk their friendship, especially now, when she needed Nash more than ever before.

Nash has been in love with Maddie since he was five years old and she tripped a bully to protect him. He had his own reasons for hiding his feelings, but when Maddie got engaged, moved across the country, and fell out of touch with him, he finally realized the error of his ways. Missing his chance to be with her is his biggest regret. When she reappears in town without warning one day, sans engagement ring and fiancé, it almost seems to good to be true. Maddie’s been going through a lot and she really needs a friend right now, so he’s determined to take care of her. He’s never going to let her go again.

This story has suspense in spades and quite a few villains, so there’s plenty of action and a relatively quick pace. I really enjoyed everything about it. I loved the characters and the supporting cast is great. The next book is set up by the end and left me wanting more of this world. I can’t wait for what comes next.
