First Line Friday: Pride by Eva Charles

This tag is hosted by Reading Is My Superpower.

My book is Pride by Eva Charles.

The promise of sin pulses through the crowded club, creating a vibe rivaled only by white powder and a tightly rolled bill.

From the VIP section, I have an unobstructed view of the main room below.

Both bars are humming, and the dance floor is packed with sweaty bodies writhing to the punishing beat. Every inch of real estate is taken up by socialites spending trust fund money, and college boys out to get laid.

Just another Thursday night at Sirena – only it’s not.

We’re minutes from taking down two fuckers who are part of a ring that’s been abducting young women all over Europe. They’ve eluded capture for the better part of two years, and my blood runs cold every time I learn about a new victim.

About: This is the first book in the Sinful Empire duet, and I’ve been waiting for the release since finishing the Sinful Empire trilogy. Rafael was one of my favorite characters in the trilogy so I wanted his story too. This ends with an intense cliffhanger but it’s so good, it’s worth the wait. Rafael is everything I expected plus some and Lexi a loveable badass and my new girl crush.

Blurb:

In our world the price of betrayal is death.

Rafael Huntsman, crown prince of a sinful empire.
Possessive.
Dangerous.
Achingly beautiful.
And consumed by a chilling past.

When I was nineteen he laid eyes on me, like it was the very first time.
From that moment, I was his.
Although it was much later, under a moonlit sky in a vineyard awash with fairy lights, that I surrendered–and he disappeared.
Until fate intervened.

Now we’re forced together in a treacherous criminal world.
He’s still dangerously seductive, but I’m not an innocent girl anymore.
I have a secret that puts us both in peril–and there’s no going back.

Forbidden fruit has never been sweeter…
