My name is Rev.
I like long walks on the beach.
A neat scotch.
And I like stealing from rich losers who have no idea the town’s Big Bad Wolf screwed their wives six ways to Sunday.
Such a scandal, indeed.
I have one end goal—to get out of this town.
I’m a loner. And that’s by choice.
People aren’t really my thing. That is…until I meet her. The little firecracker who sets more than my soul on fire.
No one has ever stuck around.
But Darcie is different. She seems to be as broken as me, and when our worlds collide, nothing but trouble looms.
Watch out, baby…down the rabbit hole we go.
I love a good dark romance and this one delivers. It’s DARK, like black as Lucifer’s soul at midnight in the desert dark, so don’t take that lightly. Nothing really shocks me and I find trigger warnings to be spoilers so I never read them but I will say everyone should read the TW in this book because there’s a scene that isn’t for the faint of heart and will be too much for some readers. It’s brutal and descriptive and extremely realistic.
That said, I loved everything about this book. The characters are damaged and twisted but I loved Darcie and Rev. They remind me very much of Mickey and Mallory Knox, from Natural Born Killers, which is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. This book is an emotional rollercoaster but I couldn’t get enough of it. The pace is frantic but not rushed and goes faster as the story unfolds. It’s like watching an action movie in your head and I couldn’t get enough. I couldn’t put it down and even though I guessed correctly what the twists would be, I couldn’t wait to see how they happened and what came next.
The cliffhanger here is one of the most brutal I’ve ever seen so I can only hope the conclusion comes soon. And I can’t wait. I received an ARC from Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.
