ARC Review: Goal Chaser by Stacey Lynn

When my ex-wife walked out our door, she didn’t just take her belongings with her, she took my heart.

I was pretty sure it would never work again, but that was before my sister’s best friend showed up at my door. Beaten. In need of serious help. And my sister sent Emmersyn to me, knowing I’d do whatever I could to help.

Except doing whatever I can means getting married. Again.

We both know the score though, which means Emmersyn knows I’ll never love her. I can help protect her and our marriage secures her inheritance, but love? I’ve already ruined one woman. I refuse to hurt another.

We say I do, and almost immediately I realize spending this much time around Emmersyn will be my downfall.

I might be breaking my promise to her already.

Turns out, when it comes to love and women, I’m wrong about a lot of things.

We haven’t gotten much Kane in the series before now, so I didn’t know much about him going in but warmed to him right away. He instinctively wants to protect this total stranger and make her feel secure. Emmersyn has been awake for over thirty-six hours and no longer recognizes her life. She was mad when she caught her fiancé cheating but the last thing she expected was for him to snap when confronted. Her best friend puts her on a plane across the country, where her enraged ex can’t find her. Em’s battered, bruised and sore all over but nowhere more than her heart. If ever a girl needed a friend, it’s her.

Instead, she gets a drop-dead gorgeous hockey player willing to do anything to protect her, no matter how crazy. Em and Kane mesh perfectly from the beginning and though they’re both determined to resist the attraction charging between them, it takes on a life of it’s own. Their story is touching and sweet but still manages to be steamy with great suspense. I loved everything about it and never get enough of this series. Let’s hope we get Alix’s story next. He needs to find his mystery girl! I received an ARC from Valentine PR in exchange for an honest review.
