Cold. Arrogant. And a force to be reckoned with on the ice.
Hulking hockey defender Nash Richards is notorious for demolishing his opponents, but he demolished my heart freshman year.
Now he’s my brand-new athletic training client—and he wants me back.
I know better than to fall for trouble on skates again. So what if I constantly catch myself daydreaming about him tearing off my underwear, grabbing my wrists, and pinning me to the wall? So what if I fantasize about all the filthy things he’d whisper in my ear about what he’s going to do next?
Okay, it’s a bit of a problem.
Fraternizing between the trainers and athletes is forbidden, but my heart doesn’t care about the rules.
Violet and Nash’s story is everything I wanted in a second chance romance. They met freshman year and fell hard but just when things were going well, he pulled away and ended it. No explanation, no reason why. Violet was heartbroken and has never really gotten over him. How can she when nobody else can compare? Ever man that’s come after him has been disappointing.
Nash has so many regrets and they all have to do with Violet. He never should’ve let her go. He was an idiot and he knows it. Now he might get another chance but he’s pretty sure he’s guaranteed to screw that up, too. It’s what he does best.
There are too many feelings still between them, even after all these years. When they’re forced to work together, it feels like fate’s laughing at them, but the more time they spend together, the harder it is to remember why this is a bad idea. Violet can’t handle having her heart broken again and Nash can’t bear to lose her again. But he also can’t bring himself to tell her why he ended it, because that would mean admitting the truth about his life and he’s not ready to share that with anyone.
Violet wants to trust Nash and she wants to give this another shot, but she knows it will never work if he’s never going to open up. Their story is sweet and sad but also happy and it left me with a smile on my face. These two are steamy and funny and just perfect. This author is new to me but I loved her writing style and the banter between these two. This story has tons of great quotes and that’s rare. I loved the way this ended for Nash and Violet but now I really need Vaughn’s book. I received an ARC from Grey’s Promotions in exchange for an honest review.
