When nature warrior Hannah McIntyre goes missing in the Rocky Mountains, her brother organizes a search and rescue team. Killian Devereaux, a former military special-ops soldier who now works for a private security company, leads the mission. Killian grew up in the Louisiana bayou hunting gators with his Cajun grandpapa. Searching the wilderness for a missing woman is right up his alley. He’s determined to find her because one thing is certain – Hannah haunts his dreams, and he’s not about to give up on her.
This story started out slow because Hannah didn’t want to give Killian a chance, despite her attraction to him. It was maddening because he’s obviously a catch but she decided when they met that they can never be together because long distance relationships, won’t ask him to uproot his life, blah blah blah. He’s some kind of super hot ninja commando who’s clearly devoted to her so I was starting to get impatient because when she finally came around.
The romance is steamy but sweet, the suspense was great and I liked the supporting characters a lot. This is a great start to a new series so I’m looking forward Maggie and Owen’s book. It also got me interested in the McIntyre Security Bodyguard series, which I haven’t read but will definitely check out now. I’m glad I picked this up and hope to see more Hannah and Killian as the series continues.
