Audio Review: Deal With the Devil by Deborah Garland

Lethal Enforcer X Damaged Ballerina

Cruel. Insane. Furious. Lachlan O’Rourke crashed my wedding, saw the bruises under my veil, and now… he’s my new husband.

He’s untamed and reclusive and says I’m way too young and innocent for a monster like him. He keeps reminding me this is just a marriage of convenience to keep me safe until the ballet conservatory accepts me.

Dancing is my life. Unaliving is his.

Only, I’m falling for him, and you know what they say?

The devil you know is better than the one you don’t.

Or will this deal with the devil be both our downfall?

This one was on the TBR, and I couldn’t wait for it but procrastination for the win because holding out for the audio was perfect. The characters pulled me in right away, especially poor Katya. She’s been through so much in her short life, like meeting her father and moving into his home at the same time, never to see her mother again. It was heartbreaking but at least she has a sister now and nothing matters more to her, until her sister vanishes too. It’s a lonely life for Katya, the Bratva princess by default. Now that her sister – the legitimate offspring – is gone, her father is finally acknowledging Katya’s existence, by trying to send her off to Russia, married to a monster.

Fortunately, she and Lachlan had met a couple of years earlier and she remained on his mind to this day. He wasn’t even sure why, but she fascinated him. She is goodness and light and deserves so much better, so he decides to save her, by marrying her himself. This story started with a bang and never stopped, and I was there for every word. There’s action and suspense, but also emotion and spice, so everything I wanted. This isn’t my first book by the author but now I must read this entire series because I loved this one and want more of this world. I’d like to thank the author and The Author Agency for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
