After I accidentally plow my car into Nick Silva’s bumper, I can’t blame him for not hiring me to be his daughter’s nanny, but I’m still salty about it. I need the money to go on a trip of a lifetime, one my ex didn’t want me to take.

Fine. I do. I want all of that, but I already swore I’d never date another jock after the last one stomped all over my heart, so this bookworm needs to play it safe.
But rumor has it Nick has a new girlfriend, which helps me maintain appropriate boundaries.

Abby really wants this nanny job so she can make money for her trip to Europe, but the guy she backed into the other day doesn’t have any interest. In fact, he’s downright rude. Nick knows it was just a fender-bender and not a big deal, but he’ll hire a nanny that hasn’t knocked off his bumper, thank you very much. After that rocky start, the two are happy to go their separate ways only to be thrown back together over and over, starting with Nick moving in right next door to Abby’s new apartment.
Nick is impressed with Abby’s resourcefulness in an emergency and offers her the nanny job after all. The two become fast friends and that’s where they draw the line. Nick doesn’t have room in his life for romance with football, school and parenting so dating isn’t an option right now. Besides, he’s determined never to put his heart on the line again, not when it still hasn’t healed, and he certainly wouldn’t risk his daughter’s heart.
Abby isn’t interested anyway because she doesn’t date football players, not anymore. She was with her high school sweetheart for years, but it wasn’t until after they got engaged that she realized he cheats. He cheated A LOT and was doing it pretty much the entire time they were together, yet Abby had no idea, so what does that say about her instincts? They agree to keep their relationship strictly professional but lines blur more every day, especially once Abby has to move in.
I loved these characters and couldn’t put this book down. It’s probably my favorite of the entire series so I’m happy that it ended on a high note but bummed that’s ending, nonetheless. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Lex Martin. I’m not sure what’s coming but I know it will be good.
