The gorgeous CEO of Brewer Air is my boss and, thanks to a bet, my new husband for six months.
Why? Because I begged.
I have a grandmother to support, a stack of bills higher than my five-foot frame, and as a cherry on top, I need to find a new place to live. Soon.
Sure, Jason Brewer’s bright green eyes and chiseled jawline steal my breath. His smirk makes me weak. The former military hero’s protective nature is as sexy as watching him control a boardroom or fly a plane.
But none of that matters. I’m desperate—not foolish. I know forever-level commitments aren’t real. This is simply a business transaction with a billionaire.
It’s too bad we didn’t consider all contingencies.
Our first kiss was to seal the deal. The second was in front of an Elvis impersonator. The third kiss led to a honeymoon that was so hot it burned into my memory.
I tell myself it’s okay because there’s an arrangement in place. It’s a—very—enjoyable means to a much-needed end. There’s nothing to worry about.
Except there is …
Jason is determined to prove that we could be more. When he proposes a new arrangement, it changes everything in ways I never saw coming.
Chloe and Jason have been friends for years so when she needed a job, he was there to offer one. She excels as his executive assistant by ignoring the crush she’s had on this man for practically her whole life. Jason’s feelings for Chloe are less than professional, but he hides it well. They flirt on occasion, but he’s her boss and she needs this job so it’s not like anything would ever happen between them. When Chloe learns about a bet Jason has with his brother, she sees an opportunity to solve both of their problems: they only have to be married for six months for Jason to win the bet and being married to him will solve all of Chloe’s immediate problems, so it’s a win-win.
She proposes a marriage of convenience and Jason quickly agrees but their motives are very different. Chloe needs to alleviate some of her financial stress and living with Jason will do just that, but she’s not opposed to enjoying the benefits of this arrangement. Jason isn’t opposed to benefits either, in fact, he wants them all, but he has an ulterior motive. The bet means nothing to him, but Chloe means everything, so he wants to make this permanent.
Chloe has a lot of issues to handle in her hectic life, like taking care of her grandmother and juggling all the expensive medical bills. She has no intention of letting her guard down enough to actually let Jason in, but he turns out to be far more charming than she imagined. I really liked Chloe and Jason, particularly how much of a cinnamon roll he is for her. Their story is sweet and fun and low angst despite touching on some tough subjects. I loved everything about it and can’t wait for more Brewer brothers. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I also liked this one. I just loved how Jason was all in right from the start, even though he agreed to a temporary arrangement. He was just that confident that he could convince her to stay.
