This one is sweet but heartbreaking. It was love at first sight for Alexander and Sara Jane and they’ve been together for three years now. But he’s got a lot of secrets, dark ones he doesn’t want her to know. Alexander thinks she’s far too good for him, so he’s always worried she’ll get hurt and he’ll only have himself to blame, for dragging her into his world. It’s a very dark place and while Sara Jane suspects she knows what’s going on in Alexander’s life, she wants him to confirm. He needs to start talking about this now, they’re past the point of secrets.
There’s nothing Alexander would like more, but he fears the truth would drive her away and put a target on her back. He can’t bear the thought of living without her, though, and he just can’t give her up. Now she wants details and when he refuses, she walks right out of his life. Their story is angsty and emotional, fast-paced with a lot of action. It kept me turning the pages because I wanted to know what came next. Their love is so good and pure, compared to the world around them. I loved these characters and was rooting for them all along, but I liked them even more as the story unfolded. Their bond will be tested in every way by their adversaries, but they’re determined to fight. Unfortunately, this ends on a cliffhanger but it’s a duet, so the next book should give us all the answers.
