She’s a sexually repressed control freak. He’s a muscular ex-con with heavier baggage than Santa’s toy bag. They’re everything each other never wanted.
This is a sweet rom com about uptight Mary and the sexy new man who makes her blush way too much. She’s a single mom struggling to protect her young son’s heart from the hateful father who walked away from him, but Mary focuses so much on everyone else that she never thinks of herself. Enter Nicole, a pink-haired, pierced fairy godmother who tells it like it is. She’s made Mary her next project and she won’t rest until Mary loosens up and has some fun.
Chase is the perfect man for her in every way, especially because he loves Aiden as much as he loves Mary and he quickly forms a unique bond that the boy never had with his selfish, absentee father. Mary has a lot of hang-ups and Chase has a lot of baggage of his own, but they’re so good together, none of that should matter.
This story has a great supporting cast, from Roger the crotchety neighbor to Dottie the – well, words don’t do her justice, you’ll just have to read it for yourself, but trust me, you’ll want more Dottie. This book was laugh out loud funny and worth every minute.
Maybe the thing I loved the most is that this book introduced me to two authors who were new or relatively new to me and they’re still favorites. I couldn’t get enough of the Bad Luck Club, which lead into The Fairy Godmother Agency and the Finding You series, both of which I really enjoyed. There’s also the Highland Hills series and Mayberry Matchmakers and other books by these authors, both individually and together, all of which I’ve really enjoyed. What more can I ask of a book than pulling me into a series that leads into another, equally good series or three? Glad I jumped on this one when it caught my eye.
