Review: Forbidden Bond by Ashlie Silas

Hating him was easy.
Working for him was complicated.
Getting pregnant by the mafia heir… is forbidden.

I was stranded and Topher came to my rescue in a million-dollar car almost as sexy as he was.
But his cocky demeanor practically dared me to reject his offer of a ride, which I did without hesitation.

Weeks later, I walked into my new job, and there he was sitting at my boss’s desk… great.

One day, I walked into his dimly lit office to find him wearing nothing but his slacks and my brain failed me.
My body gleefully followed suit, straight into a positive pregnancy test.

There’s only one problem…

It turns out that my baby daddy is in the mafia and wanted by the FBI along with his entire family.
And my father… is the FBI director.

Both of our families have made it clear that our love defies every rule.
And the fire that burns between us… is a forbidden bond.

This is a gripping forbidden romance between the good girl and the bad boy. Or is it? Katie’s controlling father is the head of the FBI’s New York City field office and work isn’t the only place he’s the boss. He has his daughter’s lives planned out and heaven help them if they refuse to fall in line. When her car breaks down, a handsome stranger comes to her rescue but she refuses his help because she can’t be sure it’s safe.

The two keep running into one another, forcing them together and demanding they confront the crazy chemistry between them. But it doesn’t take long for Katie to realize Topher’s older brother is the head of a crime syndicate, so she knows she needs to stay away. Her father kicked her out of the house and cut her off financially because she decided to take some time off after graduating magna cum laude, before entering the workforce. She can only imagine his reaction to discovering his daughter hangs out with mafiosos.

Topher is smitten with this beautiful woman, but he knows their backgrounds will keep them apart. They’re resigned to the fact that they can’t be together but decide to give in just one time before parting ways for good, except that they can’t walk away. They’re just too good together to keep their distance, but things get complicated when Katie learns she’s pregnant. I really enjoyed these characters and the way their story unfolded. There’s a nice balance of angst and suspense, while both are tempered with serious heat. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
