I found everything I didn’t know I needed.
Accepted forgiveness I didn’t deserve.
She fought for us.
Killed for us.
She was one of us.
And there was no way I was letting her go… again.
But I’m not the only one with wicked intentions for my siren. With her missing, we turn our blame to an obvious enemy. But our path of destruction could be leading us right into another trap.
We’ve been so consumed trying to win this war, that we’re losing the battle. We’ve been oblivious to what’s right in front of us.
Those kind of mistakes could destroy us. If we let them.
Individually, we’re strong.
But together, we’re invincible.
And we’re about to show the world just what we’re capable of.
This one’s a nail-biter but still so much fun. I loved watching Bri and Nico figuring things out. He was my least favorite character in the whole series when I started this trilogy and I adore Bri so I wasn’t sure what to expect from these two, but I loved every minute. Their story had a few twists I wasn’t expecting which took it to another level. They’re both in for a few surprises, including a big one that gave me pause because dayum that’s not how I thought this would go but I liked it. A lot. Bri gets tested in the worst way but she proves herself more than capable, which helps her heal in the face of the unimaginable. Nico has to face some truths he suspected but hoped to be wrong about, but he handled them well.
The others are affected by some of the action but Calli in particular shines as a beacon of strength and a total badass. I’ve loved her from the beginning so her and Daemon’s story is my favorite of them all. I didn’t think she could get any better but she’s still surprising us in the best ways. Calli is Nico’s biggest supporter, so we get lots of her here. He’s so grateful to have his sister by his side after fearing she’d never forgive him for the way he withdrew from the world after tragedy struck. She’s equally thrilled to have her brother back but possibly even more excited to gain the sister she’s always wanted.
There’s a fun surprise at the end, making it everything I wanted for Nico and his Siren. I’m already trying to predict what’s coming next as I wait impatiently for more. I was so sure I knew what was happening with Alex behind the scenes but the brief preview offered here tells me I was wrong. Alex isn’t the only one surrounded by mystery here either, since we’ve been getting a lot more of Rhea. I can’t help but expect that Theo’s little sister will be a force to be reckoned with when we get her story, which hopefully comes. And I wonder if it will involve some Italians. I just can’t get enough of this world and these characters.
