It tore at my soul, piece by piece. But I refused to go down alone.
My need for vengeance pours out like a gaping wound… directed at the man I thought was my father. The one who trained me to become the monster I am.
I will not rest until he’s hurt the way he’s made us hurt.
I will not stop until he’s bled like those I love.
Until he’s paid the price, I’ll never truly be free.
An eye for an eye— he once told me.
And I’ve found the perfect target.
Someone he thought he could keep safe. Tucked away from the depraved world I barely survived.
But I’ve found her.
The innocent pawn in my twisted game.
The seductive demon who’s going to help settle the score once and for all.
All’s fair in love and war… checkmate.
I’m so hooked on this series and couldn’t wait for Toby’s story. In the previous books, he always seemed like the good guy out of this bunch of dark princes but Toby is much different when you really get to know him. He’s every bit as dark and dirty as Seb, Theo or Nico and maybe even a little more twisted. But I love him even more for it. Toby has a plan for revenge and it involves using an innocent woman as a pawn, but he falls for her pretty quickly. There’s a lot of action in this book but the real story is for me is the internal battle raging in him. He needs to hurt her to see his plan through but he doesn’t want to do it because he’s gone over this girl. Will his need for vengeance trump what he feels or is he so overwhelmed with passion that he’ll reign in his inner demon?
This book was so much fun to read. I loved Jodie from the first page. She’s a bit of an introvert but able to let loose and enjoy herself. Her life has been rough, especially lately so you feel for her and completely understand the whirlwind romance because she needs something good in her life more than most. But will she get her happily ever after with the prince or is he too dark and damaged to deliver? This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next installment. I received an ARC from Candi Kane PR in exchange for an honest review.
