Review: 608 Alpha Avenue by Adriana Locke

The Cherry Falls romance collection is a series of standalone but interconnected books, each written by different authors. I had never heard of Cherry Falls before but it has my interest so I’ll be checking out some of the other books soon. This is Locke’s first book for the series but her second, 907 For Keeps Way, is coming in September.

The story opens to Haley, a twenty-one-year-old bartender and would-be romance novelist. She has a crush on Grayson, the gorgeous mechanic who comes into the Fireside every day, but refuses to socialize – or even crack a smile. She’d love to get to know him but he doesn’t let anyone in. Grayson owns the garage with his brothers and the business needs revamped if it’s going to survive. At the bar, Garrett mentions to Grayson that they need someone to help with marketing and updating the company website. Haley overhears and offers a trade. She’s struggling to craft alphas in her work and needs male input, so she’ll take care of their marketing needs if Grayson will hang out and let her pick his brain.

He immediately refuses because he’s made it a point to stay away from Haley. Although he was immediately attracted to her, he feels the ten-year age gap is too much. Besides, she doesn’t do casual and he’s not a relationship guy. His brother convinces him this will be a painless effort and the business is depending on him so after a smidge of emotional blackmail, they have a date. Haley’s thrilled but Grayson doesn’t know what to think.

She quickly wins him over and the hiking scene is super steamy. I enjoyed both characters and this is a fun story. We also meet Haley’s friend Kaylee and get to look forward to her story in the September release. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer because novellas are a tease but I enjoyed it very much.

A Cherry Falls romance

Things heat up (and take an unexpected turn) when a self-proclaimed romantic requests the help of a broody small-town mechanic.

Grayson Blake is a jackass.
There’s no other way to put it.
He comes into Fireside every day and orders a beer. It’s nearly impossible to get him to have a conversation while he drinks it. Smiles—or anything remotely close to it—are even more rare.
Despite his cantankerous personality, he’s so freaking gorgeous.
His thick black hair, broad shoulders, and tattoos that mark his calloused skin draw me in like a magnet. I don’t even care that he’s ten years older than me. I’m here for the age gap. And his broody, bad-boy persona is entirely more attractive than it should be.
I have a thing for the rough-around-the-edges mechanic. And I’ve heard through the grapevine that he has a thing for me too. But getting him to admit it will be as easy as catching lightning in a bottle.

Author’s Note: This is a standalone novella.

Cherry Falls is filled with returning characters and iconic destinations that will begin to feel like family. When you leave the city, and drive into Cherry Falls, it’s like you’ve finally come home. The cherry on top? Each book delivers a swoon-worthy romance! So welcome to Cherry Falls, we hope you stay awhile!
