Hockey’s most hated player just asked me to marry him.
Connor Grace is the league’s bad boy–and my best friend’s worst enemy.
He’s the fallen prince of a famous hotel chain dynasty.
Me? I’m the foster kid who grew up to be a librarian.
I never thought I’d end up in a marriage of convenience to make someone’s grandma happy, but here we are.
I have no plans to kiss my husband for any reason other than show.
I have no plans to fall in love with the arrogant man dressed in a custom suit hiding intricate tattoos.
But when we’re alone, he drops the mask he wears for the rest of the world.
He holds me like he means it when he says I’m his.
And I want to believe him. Too bad I learned early on that fairytales aren’t real, and nothing good lasts forever.
Mildred is in a precarious financial situation so when her bestie’s enemy proposes a marriage of convenience, she’s just desperate enough to agree. Marrying Connor will solve her financial problems forever and she gets a grandma out of it so she can’t reasonably decline. It doesn’t hurt that Connor’s gram is Mildred’s friend from the library and one of her favorite people, even if being married to the broody troublemaker is a daunting prospect.
Connor just wants to make his grams happy when her health falters. She’s the only thing that matters to him besides hockey and she doesn’t need the stress of worrying about him, her heart can’t take it. It’s a simple business transaction for the billionaire heir of the Grace Hotels fortune, but he gets so much more than he bargained for with Mildred. She’s quirky and sweet and completely irresistible in every way, so his simple business arrangement quickly spirals out of control, becoming something much bigger.
They are hands-down one of my favorite couples ever. Mildred is one-of-a-kind with her pet hedgehog and unique outlook on life. Despite the hardships of her life, she’s got a sunny disposition and lights up a room. Connor is the team’s bad boy, infamous for a bad attitude both on and off the ice but there’s a good guy underneath it all. They’re definitely my favorite couple of the series and one of my favorites ever from the author, which is no small feat. I’d like to thank the author for providing an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
